A postcard from 1907 showing a lone house amongst the windswept dunes of 'Parkstone-on-Sea'
Humble origins of one of Britain's most exclusive addresses.
A new book reveals how the millionaire's row of Sandbanks went from being a windswept wasteland to one of the most sought-after addresses in the world has been published.
Today the harbour-front plots on the exclusive enclave in Poole, Dorset, are crammed with £10m mansions and luxury flats while Ferraris and Bentleys parade its tree-lined streets.
But you only have to go back the relatively short period of 100 years to see that Sandbanks - or Parkstone-on-Sea as it was known - was once a deserted landscape cut off from the rest of the country.
