Two Medieval gold coins buried before the Battle of Bosworth which were unearthed by a metal detectorist over 500 years later have sold for almost £17,000.
Hedge layer Rob Thompson, 61, made the remarkable find while detecting on land at Sutton Cheney, Leics, just half a mile from where Richard III was killed in the battle in 1485.
The grandfather of one dug down 12ins on arable farmland and spotted a glistening large gold coin.
He was detecting alone so he video-called a couple of expert detectorist friends to ask them for help identifying the coin.
