Men floundering in the sea moments after the notorious Bismarck battleship had been destroyed by the Royal Navy in 1941.
Shocking photographs that show hundreds of German sailors drowning in the wake of the sinking of the fearsome battleship Bismarck have come to light after 77 years.
The grainy black and white images depict the small black dots of men floundering in the sea moments after the notorious vessel had been destroyed by the Royal Navy in 1941.
Another image shows some of the survivors doggy paddling beneath the hull HMS Dorsetshire that had taken part in the attack.
The prints, which measure 10ins by 7ins, have sold at auction for £6,000 - four times the auctioneer's estimate.
