Locals are raising a pint in celebration after hitting their £30,000 target to save the last remaining pub in a village that once had five.

They received almost 300 donations in just two weeks to their Crowdfunding campaign to take over The White Lion in Broadwindsor in Dorset.

Over the years villagers have seen the other four venues - The Cross Keys, The Oak, The Butchers Arms and The George Inn - all close and turned into residential use.

The 17th century White Lion came under threat after the last landlord left last year.
Owners, Palmers Brewery, decided against reopening it as it had struggled to make a profit and approached the villagers who took it on as a community enterprise, having already saved the village shop.
