A British and German war veteran who fought against each other in a notorious battle in World War Two have held a touching reunion 74 years after the event.

Rifleman Victor Gregg and Leutnant Gunter Halm endured the trauma of seeing their friends killed on opposite sides at the Battle of El Alamein in the Western Desert in 1942.
Now aged 96 and 95 respectively, Rfn Gregg and Lt Halm met up at the recent Chalke Valley History Festival in Dorset where both men gave talks of their respective wartime experiences.
