Homemade signs put up in protest at the government's active travel scheme were removed by officials who feared they could injure cyclists.<br />

The wooden boards had been put up by disgruntled residents in Poole, Dorset, after their street was blocked off by large planters to allow pedestrians and cyclists to use it safely. <br />

They planted the signs in the timber containers but they were taken down by 'jobsworth' council workers.<br />

Stunned residents were told they were being removed in the event of a cyclist crashing into one of the planters and then injuring themselves on the screws in the signs.
