A whopping £90,000 in cash was discovered under a bed in a derelict house just before firefighters were set to torch the property.

Fire crews had been carrying out a sweep of the abandoned bungalow ahead of a training exercise in which they set fire to items of furniture then extinguish them.

But they were left open-mouthed when they found bundles of cash totalling £90,000 stashed under the bed in one of the houses on the former site of an elderly care complex in Christchurch, Dorset.

The bounty was handed over to police - and an investigation is now underway to establish who the cash haul belonged to.
