Never-before-seen letters documenting the monumental days leading up to the abdication of King Edward VIII have emerged for sale for £20,000.
The archive of papers was kept by the controversial monarch's solicitor who played an integral part in the constitutional crisis of 1936.
The letters give a unique insight into the tension between the King and his mistress, the American divorcee Wallis Simpson, in the final nine days of his short-lived reign.
The correspondence includes the decisive note solicitor Sir Albert Allen handed to Edward which was then used to convicnce Wallis to let him abdicate and flee to America with her, just like Harry and Meghan today.
