A tiny emerald and diamond coffee cup used in the Ottoman Empire has sold for £105,000.

The beautiful and rare item was made in the mid 19th century when coffee drinking was a ritualistic process in Turkey.

A glass or porcelain lining would have been placed inside it to avoid any damage to the jewels.

The cup - or zarf - is only 1.5ins tall with 100 cut emeralds and over 200 rose-cut diamonds in a pave setting.
