Back from the dead - A car nut has finally got his beloved motor back on the road - 30 years after cruel thieves stole his pride and joy...

Simon Hartland, 53, originally bought the Escort in 1985 for £3000, but it was snatched by car thieves just three years later.

Police eventually found the stripped out shell 6 weeks later and returned the sad remains to a distraught Simon.

Now after languishing in his garage for 30 years Simon has painstakingly restored the old Ford to its former glory.

And engineer Simon has had the last laugh as the now classic Escort RS2000 is worth 10 times what he paid for it.
