Safety railings that have been installed along a historic harbour have been branded 'ghastly and hideous' by dismayed residents and tourists.<br />

The new barriers have been erected on the advice of the Health and Safety Executive to stop people from falling into Weymouth Harbour, Dorset.<br />

But many people are appalled at their 'sterile' appearance and say they look like scaffolding poles.
