Six Chinese scroll paintings gifted to a beloved British World War Two commander have sold for a whopping £688,250.
The artworks were given to Field Marshal Sir Archibald Wavell by senior Chinese generals for his efforts working with them in the Far East in the 1940s.
The scroll paintings were tipped to fetch £150,000 at Woolley & Wallis in Salisbury, Wilts, but sold for more than four times their estimate.
