Six Chinese scroll paintings gifted to a beloved British World War Two commander have sold for a whopping £688,250.<br />

The artworks were given to Field Marshal Sir Archibald Wavell by senior Chinese generals for his efforts working with them in the Far East in the 1940s.<br />

The scroll paintings were tipped to fetch £150,000 at Woolley & Wallis in Salisbury, Wilts, but sold for more than four times their estimate.
