The never-say-die attitude of a British soldier who escaped four times from German PoW camps can be revealed after his archive sold for over
£5,000.

Sergeant Robert Chapman was a Special Operations Executive (SOE) operative who parachuted behind enemy lines into Yugoslavia in February 1942.

After landing in the wrong area he was captured at a farm.

He made three failed escape attempts from PoW camps, including the infamous Stalag Luft III, before making a 'home run' in 1945.
