The medals of a fearless army officer who took on the entire Russian army during the doomed Charge of the Light Brigade have emerged for sale for £20,000.<br />
<br />
Major General John Douglas led his men as they galloped towards the enemy at the Battle of Balaclava on October 25, 1854.<br />
<br />
As they advanced into the 'Valley of Death' Russian guns fired from left and straight ahead, scything down the men and horses.<br />
<br />
Those still standing were implored by Maj Gen Douglas to 'give it another charge' with their swords waving above their heads.
