Teenage amputee Isabelle Papandronicou has got a new prosthetic leg that has enabled her to wear heels for the first time, just in time for her school prom. Isabelle (15) from Barnet, London, chose to have her right leg amputated last year after several operations to fix a rare bone condition did not work. She has been wearing an NHS limb since then but has been limited to just flat shoes. After hearing about lifelike prosthetics that can be shaped to fit inside heeled footwear, her family started fundraising to get Isabelle a new leg. She has now been fitted with the £5,633 leg by Dorset Orthopaedic in Ringwood, Hampshire, which she showcased at her year 11 leaver's ball.
