Martian Flying Machine, estimated to sell for $6,000-8,000.
Original drawings depicting the iconic tripod Martians from HG Wells' classic sci-fi novel The War of the Worlds for the first time have emerged for sale for a staggering £350,000.
The groundbreaking artwork came from the pen of Brazilian Henrique Alvim Corrêa, a struggling artist who convinced Wells to use his now world-famous drawings to portray the battle between humans and the alien invaders.
Corrêa died from tuberculosis in 1910 at age 34 but experts say his illustrations became seminal, influencing and shaping the way aliens were portrayed for almost a century afterwards.
The collection is tipped to fetch $500,000 - around £350,000 - when it goes under the hammer at Heritage Auctions in Dallas, Texas.
