Never-before-seen letters by comic legend Kenneth Williams have come to light - and they are brimming with his trademark acerbic wit.
The Carry On star became penpals in the mid-1980s with a Swedish traveller he befriended in the street.
He took no prisoners in his correspondence, delivering withering putdowns of various public figures including playwright Alan Ayckbourn and miners strike leader Arthur Scargill.
But he displays a more sensitive side to his personality in a touching letter about the suicide of Welsh actress Rachael Roberts.
It is especially poignant as Williams himself died of a drugs overdose a few years later, with some speculating it was suicide.
