A timewarp Ford Capri with just 585 miles on the clock has sold for a whopping £71,000.
The 2.8-litre Injection was bought new by retired Essex gas engineer Albert Clarkson for a discounted £7,800 in 1986.
He kept it in a dehumidified and centrally heated garage at his Canvey Island home to preserve its condition.
The vehicle was elevated above the ground to protect its tyres and he took it for MOTs in his trailer even though he was not driving it.
Albert parted with the Capri as he is devoting all his time to maintaining his other 'pride and joy', a 1969 Cortina. It was snapped up within two days of being listed with KGF Classic Cars, of Peterborough, Cambs.
