A giant nutcracker kidnapped from a family home days before Christmas has reemerged weeks later with a mysterious note.

The 5.5ft tall nutcracker, affectionately nicknamed Kaiser, was given pride of place in the front garden.

But the festive figure disappeared without a trace in December while Catherine Woolrych and her family were watching TV in the front room.

Now Kaiser has reappeared more than a month after he was stolen, accompanied by a sinister note from the thief promising to take it again next Christmas.
