Extraordinary photos of the ill-fated Gallipoli campaign have come to light over 100 years later - to show a lighter side to the horrors.
The 11 month campaign against the Ottomans, which ran from February 1915 to January 1916, is regarded as one of the Britain's biggest military disasters.
A staggering 213,000 troops from the Empire were killed, more than half perishing due to sicknesses such as dysentery caused by the unsanitary environment.
Yet these images, which have emerged for sale with C & T Auctions, of Ashford, Kent, seem to paint a different, almost jovial snapshot of the campaign.
