A motorbike kept in a family's utility cupboard for decades is expected to fetch £40,000 at auction.

The 1953 Vincent Black Shadow had its wheels and mud guards removed so it would fit in the small cupboard alongside paint cans and other bric-a-brac.

The bike, which has just 22,000 miles on the clock and has never been restored, was bought second-hand for £125 in 1965 and has been in the same family for 50 years but has not been ridden since 1969.
The motorcycle is up for sale with H&H Classics in Duxford, Cambridgeshire, on October 13.
