A historic home with a 640-year-old tower is on the market for £1.25m.

Bolton Old Hall is Grade II* listed and has a striking peel tower built in the 1380s as a defence against border raiders from Scotland.

The house is also said to have a link to John and Kit Wright, Guy Fawkes' fellow conspirators in the Gunpowder Plot.
The main part of Bolton Old Hall dates back to the reign of Queen Elizabeth I and has a number of character features including Tudor fireplaces, panelling and plasterwork.
