Not your average quick tyre change...

Engineers at the South Devon Railway show fitting a new tyre for a steam locomotive is a lengthy and complex process.

Unlike your standard car tyre, these 4ft diameter wheels take virtually a full day to fit each one and require some heavy duty machinery.

The tyres are made from good quality steel sourced from South Africa, which means it can take six to nine months to get different sizes ordered and shipped.
