A Napoleon optical illusion owned by Thomas Hardy<br />
<br />
A secret print owned by English novelist Thomas Hardy that contains an optical illusion and highlights his admiration for French foe Napoleon Bonaparte has come to light.<br />
<br />
The scarce artwork was created by secret supporters of the 'Little General' to show solidarity following his defeat at Waterloo in 1815.<br />
<br />
They adopted the violet as their symbol, and Napoleon's face, and those of his wife and child, are hidden in the outlines of the flower.
