The lost logbook of one of the most celebrated pilots of the Battle of Britain found in an old chest of drawers after 82 years later has sold for £12,000.
Flying Officer Peter Pease died a hero after steering his stricken Spitfire into a field to avoid crashing into houses and causing civilian casualties.
The 22-year-old, one of Winston Churchill's 'The Few', was killed on September 15, 1940 - the day now known as Battle of Britain Day when the RAF achieved a decisive victory over the German Luftwaffe.
