A 'lost' portrait of author Emily Brontë is set to fetch £40,000 at auction.
Professor Christopher Heywood bought the painting a decade ago and carried out four years of extensive academic research to prove the figure was the Wuthering Heights author.
Following his death in March, the lost Bonnet Portrait is being sold without a reserve at Humbert & Ellis auctioneers in Towcester, Northamptonshire.
The painting is attributed to Bradford portrait artist John Hunter Thompson and is thought to be the original picture on which an illustration was made for 'Woman at Home' in July 1894.
