An incredibly rare copy of the first book published on the Antarctic continent by Ernest Shackleton's expedition team has emerged for sale.
Experts have described the copy of Aurora Australis as the finest in existence - and have tipped it to fetch upwards of 60,000 pounds when it goes under the hammer.
The book was produced by Shackleton's men in 1908 during the Nimrod Expedition as a way to stave off boredom during the long winter nights at their remote base camp at Cape Royds on Ross Island.
