One man's vast collection of pipes and smoking paraphernalia has sold at auction for an eye-watering £63,000.

Trevor Barton spent more than 50 years bringing the enormous group together having started collecting after leaving the military in 1947.

He amassed hundreds of different designs before his death in 2008, at which time the collection passed into the ownership of his family.

Since then they have sold a few of the pipes but have now held an enormous sale to part with the entire ensemble.
