Room for a small one...
Airship Doplomacy...Monster Maybach Zeppelin a present from the Fuhrer.
A luxury car that Nazi tyrant Adolf Hitler gifted to an Indian ruler in a failed bid to 'buy' his favour in the run-up to World War II has emerged for sale for £2.3 million.
Hitler gave the plush Maybach motor to Maharaja Bhupinder Singh of Patiala in 1935, a year after he had declared himself Fuhrer of Germany.
The flamboyant Maharaja, one of the most powerful and influential people in India, had travelled to Germany and befriended Hitler during an unlikely meeting between the two in Berlin.
When the Maharajah left, Hitler shipped him a white Maybach DS8 Zeppelin, one of the most luxurious and advanced cars of its time and powered by the same 7.9-litre 12-cylinder engine used in Zeppelin airships.
Now dark blue, the rare car is being sold by Danish collector Henrik Frederiksen in a Bonhams auction of more than 50 classic motors.
