What do you call a man with a seagull on his head? The answer, it turns out, is Pete.

Boat skipper Pete Brock is pictured carrying an extra passenger on his ferry after a friendly seagull landed on his head.

The bird swooped down on the Teignmouth to Shaldon Ferrry in Devon and used Pete's head as a perch.

While seagulls are usually regarded as a nuisance in most seaside towns, this one has built up a friendly rapport with Pete.

The herring gull is known to regulalry hitch a ride on the small ferry and has even been given the nickname Gullivar.
The pictures were taken by fellow mariner Rob Hughes, of Devon Sea Safari.
