Red-faced workmen have painted over a 'disgusting' shade of green that was put down on a historic quayside after the wrong colour paint was ordered by mistake.
The shade of 'seasick green' was applied to the new pavement next to Weymouth Harbour, where D-Day troops and Dunkirk 'little ships' embarked during the Second World War.
A natural sandstone colour was meant to have been used but a Dorset Council employee entered an incorrect colour code when ordering the paint from suppliers.
And after being sent the wrong paint workmen carried on regardless and rendered the length of the quay in the garish green, much to the horror of local residents and visitors.
Dorset Council later admitted human error was to blame and ordered in more of the sandstone paint which has now been applied.
