A large doll that bears an uncanny resemblance to Boris Johnson today sold for more than £52,000 - after it was saved from the bin.
The 2ft German boy figure with blonde hair and blue eyes was made in about 1910.
It originally belonged to the vendor's grandmother.
When she died 30 years ago the doll was passed down to her daughter who kept it on her sofa.
One day to her horror her pet chewed off its right foot.
