A 250-year-old painting that Madonna was desperate to buy but couldn't has gone on display in a museum.

The oil painting is of Ashcombe House near Salisbury, Wilts, the historic mansion the Material Girl bought for £9m with ex-husband Guy Ritchie in 2001.
