Adventure Clydesdales on Dartmoor are doing their bit to save the magnificent heavy horses by offering treks across the remote parts of the moor on these huge beasts.
Owner Tim Ancrum said 'We have to find modern uses for these beautiful animals or their numbers will continue to dwindle away. They're excellent trekking horses, you get a spectacular view, and their as comfortable as an old armchair'
Now listed as vulnerable by the Rare Breeds Survival Trust their are less than a thousand breeding mares left of a breed that was once commonplace on most of the farms in Scotland before the arrival of the internal combustion engine.
