Visitors get the chance to admire the Heather Gardens in full spring bloom at the popular tourist attraction of Compton Acres in Poole, Dorset.

Compton Acres was constructed in 1920 and today is acknowledged as one of the finest privately owned gardens in England.

The Heather Gardens were installed after the second world war to replace the previous feature of a cactus and succulent collection which had required far more man power to upkeep than could be spared during WWII.

Thousands of heathers have been planted amongst rocky outcrops giving all the year round colour.
