Ruff year for rare pups...
Pictured: Breeder Caz Martel's Glen of Imaal terrier Fern has recently given birth to her first litter of seven puppies.
The Covid pandemic has been a disaster for Britain's rarest breeds of dog with numbers expected to be lower than ever this year.
While lockdown has seen the demand for puppies rise generally and breeders of 'popular' dogs have been able to cash in on the surge, for those trying to keep a dying breed going it has been a "logistical nightmare".
Breeds like labradors and French bulldogs have proved more popular than ever, with breeders of the latter bumping their prices up to about £8,000 a pup.
