The signed contract for the 'Fight of the Century' between the legendary Muhammad Ali and Joe Frazier has emerged for sale for £15,000.

Both fighters put pen to paper to make official the highly anticipated World Heavyweight Boxing Championship bout on July 9, 1970.

It was due to take place at Cobo Hall, in Detroit, Michigan, in September 1970, as Ali was prevented from boxing in Las Vegas or New York due to his refusal to join the army in protest at the Vietnam War.

However, a month after the contract was signed, the New York Supreme Court ruled in Ali's favour and the venue was changed to Madison Square Garden in February 1971.
Frazier came out on top by unanimous decision after 15 gruelling rounds as Ali's 31-bout undefeated streak was ended. The contract, which refers to Ali as Cassius Clay, is going under the hammer with US-based auctioneers Nate D Sanders, of California.
