One of Britain's most popular holiday resorts has become the first in the country to tax tourists for staying there.
Hotel owners narrowly voted to charge visitors an extra £2 a night to stay in Bournemouth, Dorset.
The 'tourist tax' will generate more than £2m a year with the money being spent on staging future events.
It is in response to the cash-strapped local council scrapping funding for some events including the annual Bournemouth Air Festival.
