The wartime heroics of a so-called 'Millionaire's Squadron' made up of well-heeled and affluent RAF pilots has been told in a new book.<br />
<br />
The 601 Squadron members included old Etonians and Oxbridge students who wore silk-lined uniforms and played polo on Brough Superior motorbikes.<br />
<br />
They railed against military discipline, had drunken nights full of high-jinks and womanising and customised their aircraft engines so they could go faster.<br />
<br />
In today's society they would be slammed for their antics but when it mattered the most, they proved themselves to be some of the most skillful and bravest pilots of World War Two.
