This is the shocking moment a reckless father and a young child scaled a dangerous rock plinth as enormous waves crashed around them.
The pair are thought to have gone for a walk during extreme storms and wandered 50ft from the main coastal path in Portland, Dorset.
When they reached the Pulpit Rock - a huge stack of stones just off the Jurassic coast - they precariously leaned against it as massive waves splashed against the side.
The man, thought to be in his 40s, was spotted desperately holding onto the child, who is believed to be his son and no older than 11.
A passer-by stopped and photographed the scene in horror as the duo were soaked by the huge splashes that crashed over the rocks.
