Yours for £35,000 - the humble lock that brought down a government.
The lock which was forced open by intruders to gain entry to Watergate in the biggest political scandal in history has emerged for sale for £35,000.
In the early hours of June 17, 1972, five intruders were arrested after they were caught wiretapping phones and stealing documents from the Democrat headquarters in Washington DC.
It later emerged they were connected to President Richard Nixon's re-election campaign and the scandal led to his resignation.
The lock, which was jimmied open during the break-in, was attached to the stairwell door the burglars used to enter the premises.
