Students queue for the jab at the BIC in Bournemouth

Walk-in Covid jabs for university students at a seaside resort have been scrapped after medical staff were overwhelmed by the response.

Hundreds of students in Bournemouth, Dorset, queued for over quarter of a mile outside a large vaccination centre after being invited to take up spare doses.

Many started queuing outside the Bournemouth International Centre (BIC) before 8am yesterday with more turning up in the following hours, keen to get vaccinated before returning home to their families for the summer.
