Cold war hardware turning into hot property...
Christie's Head of Decorative Arts Anna Evans in the ejector seat from a Lightning interceptor.
Cold war collectables - Up market auction house Christie's has spotted a trend for cold war technology as high tech feature furniture for the modern collector.
The Kensington auctioneers, normally associated with marble sculptures and Old Masters, are selling a collection of items as eclectic and diverse as a highly polished nose cone from a french Mirage jet, the ejector seat from a supersonic British Lightning and the tail fin from a missile.
Anna said ‘The aeronautic objects are interesting pieces of history as well dynamic items which make high-impact displays. There are increasing numbers of people with a passion for aviation looking for these bold, sculptural pieces of history.'
