The humble kettle has been given a modern makeover finally putting paid to the problem of wasting energy by boiling more water than you need.<br />

The futuristic device allows tea drinkers to boil water directly in their mugs using state-of-the-art induction technology.<br />
<br />
The clever kettle heats water by placing a mug on a special induction plate then putting a magnetic metal rod in the liquid.<br />
<br />
The gadget, called Miito, is the brainchild of young entrepreneurs Nils Chudy and Jasmina Grase, former students of the Design Academy Eindhoven in the Netherlands.
