This stunning Fiat which was kept in a 'time capsule' condition for 30 years before a painstaking restoration has sold for £1.72million. ($2.04m)

The incredibly rare 'jewel-like' 1953 Fiat V8 is one of just 14 ever made with the slick 'Jet Age' bodywork.

It was originally owned by powerboat racing Gold Cup winner Lou 'The Speed King' Fageol.

The Supersonic went under the hammer at RM Sotheby's in Monterey, California.
