The Lone Ranger wearing the mask.

The iconic black mask worn by crime-busting Wild West hero The Lone Ranger has emerged for sale - with a whopping £40,000 pounds price tag.

The mask was one of three which were custom made for star actor Clayton Moore, who played the mysterious masked gunslinger in the 1950s TV show.

It was Moore's favourite mask because of its comfortable fit and the clear view it offered him while performing his own stunts.
