A tragic Tommy's pocket trench mirror that still has the bullet hole from where a German sniper killed him has been discovered in his poignant archive 104 years later.
Sergeant Arthur Wells - a survivor of the Somme who was twice decorated for bravery - was picked off by the enemy sniper as he spoke to a senior officer while repairing a trench on the Western Front.
The fatal bullet penetrated the standard-issue mirror that would have been in his breast pocket at the time.
