A rare first edition of a 479-year-old book that was banned by the Catholic Church has emerged for sale for £2m.
Nicolaus Copernicus' De revoltionibus orbium coelestium (On the Revolutions of the Heavenly Spheres) changed people's perspective of the universe in the 16th century by suggesting the sun was at the centre of the solar system, not the Earth.
Before Copernicus, the general consensus was that the sun, moon and other planets in our solar system orbited the Earth.
The Catholic Church considered this theory heretical and the tomb was placed on its infamous banned book index for 142 years.
