The Oakbottle, and drink.

This simple wooden bottle could be about to change the face of the lucrative drinks industry - because it promises to turn cheap booze into more expensive vintage-tasting drinks.

The oak bottle replicates the ageing process of wines and spirits during which they sit in oak barrels and develop their flavour - but instead of taking months or years its makers say it takes as little as 24 hours to achieve the same effect.

It means drinks lovers could potentially enjoy the oaky flavours of premium tipples without having to fork out the high prices they demand.

The original Oak Bottle, made from sustainably sourced American oak, costs $79.99 - around £50 - from oakbottle.com.
