A gold ring thought to have belonged to the Sheriff of Nottingham 460 years ago has sold for almost £14,000.
Metal detectorist Andy Taylor unearthed the 1560s posy ring on a farmer's field at Radcliffe-on-Trent, Notts, in July 2020.
The love token, which bears a mystery message 'I Meane Ryght', was part of a larger hoard of coins that were attributed to the sheriff.
